Shinjuku, Japan

Shinjuku Japan

Shinjuku is one of Tokyo’s most important commercial and administrative centers. It is home to the world’s busiest train station, Shinjuku Station, used by an average of about 3 million people per day. The district also contains the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (Tochō), the seat of the Tokyo administration and a key urban landmark in eastern Tokyo. Around Shinjuku Station there is a dense concentration of electronics shops, large department stores such as Odakyu, cinemas, restaurants, and bars. Many international hotel chains have locations in this neighborhood, particularly in its western area. Shinjuku has the highest proportion of registered immigrants of any neighborhood in Tokyo, giving it a notably diverse and cosmopolitan atmosphere.
