Cheyenne is the capital and the most populated city in the US state of Wyoming, and it also serves as the county seat of Laramie County. It is the main city of the Cheyenne, Wyoming, Metropolitan Area, which includes all of Laramie County. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS • The State Capitol Building, a National Historic Landmark, is the most prominent structure in the Cheyenne skyline. • Wyoming State Museum. • Union Pacific Railroad Depot. This recently renovated National Historic Landmark houses the Cheyenne Depot Museum, a visitor center, and Shadow's Pub & Grill. • Old West Museum & Store. Situated in Frontier Park on the grounds of Cheyenne Frontier Days, this historic rodeo is known as the “Daddy of ‘em All”. It features a large collection of horse-drawn carriages and exhibits on the history of the CFD rodeo, which was founded in 1897. • Nelson Museum of the West. This Western museum boasts 11,000 square feet of exhibits, including Indian artifacts, cowboy gear, and 19th-century weapons. • Historic Governors' Mansion. This was the residence of Wyoming governors from 1905 to 1976. • Big Boy Steam Engine. This powerful coal-fired engine was built to haul a 3600-ton train over steep grades between Cheyenne and Ogden, Utah. • Cheyenne Botanic Gardens. This garden features a variety of plants and a greenhouse conservatory.
